Grand Hotel I Castelli

On the peninsula of Sestri Levante, the Grand Hotel dei Castelli fulfils the magnificent natural landscape of the park where the green Mediterranean merges with the colours of the sea.
The Grand Hotel dei Castelli has 50 rooms, in perfect style with the environment and furnished with elegant and antique furniture with bathrooms either in classic or modern style. The comfort area has been very recently created , skillfully remodeled by HABITAT PROGETTI managed by Alessandro Ghio. Each bathroom has been remodeled with tiles of different color and different size some of them are from Ceramica del Conca and Ceramica Faetano . The Grand Hotel I Castelli has  a truly fascinating history. Around 1920 the Sestri Levante peninsula was bought by Riccardo Gualino, financier, lawyer,  industrial and  collector from Biella. He began the reclamation of the peninsula by the ruins and debris of almost a century of history and committed  to the  architects Busiri-Vici  from  Rome and the art critic Lionello Venturi the construction of three new Castles.  Capitals, columns, Bifore and Trifore  re-emerged from the ruins of ancient castles and items recovered from ancient Byzantine buildings in southern Italy, were included in the new constructions. Between 1925 and 1929  three buildings  were established: the Castle of Cipressi, the largest and assigned as the  residence of Gualino, the Castle of  Lecci, to receive the guests and the Castle of Agavi assigned to  service  rooms and to the servants. Around 1950 the entire complex was transformed in the luxurious and refined  hotel that is still preserving the charm of the old aristocratic residence. The work of nature and the sea merge into a unique sight during any time of the year.
From Grand Hotel dei Castelli, Guglielmo Marconi successfully sent the first radio signals across the world: a modern fairy tale, which marked out a new mean of communication. Famous for its medieval-style building is situated in a wonderful position in  the heart of the famous Sestri Levante peninsula with a wide sight towards the  charming scenario of the two bays of Fables and Baia del Silenzio.
