Acquarium of Cala Gonone

Del Conca is continuing its growth, thanks to a constant search for innovation, and has tried to realize eco-compatible products. Some of them have attracted the interest of the construction companies and particularly of the local administration of Dorgali (Nuoro) that has commissioned the realization of the Aquarium of Cala Gonone. A wide area has been located, between the coastal strip of the Gennargentu National Park and the Orosei Gulf, ideal for the realization of the Aquarium, which is one of the main infrastructures useful for the functioning of the park. Works have begun in January 2004 and have been completed in December 2006. The designer is the well-known architect Peter Chermayeff, creator both of the Aquarium of Genova and Barcelona. The aquarium is positioned next to the sea and has been created with wide multifunctional spaces such as: a receiving area, an expo space with tanks of various dimensions, areas for meetings with educational purposes, a laboratory for biological analysis and many more. For those wide spaces Del Conca has provided tiles from KY range, glazed porcelain, characterized by essential graphical lines, sober colours and from the integration of porcelained gres with steel and acid glass that makes it attractive.
