Work has begun for construction of Ceramica Del Conca’s new American facilities for the production of porcelain stoneware tile. The industrial complex will be built in Loudon County, Tennessee, and will cover an area of over 30,000 m2. The complex will include production facilities, research labs, showrooms and administrative offices.  The plan calls for an initial investment of $50 million which will come to a close in 2013 with the hiring of about 100 employees. A second phase will follow within 4 or 6 years — contingent on the amount of business — with a further investment of $20 million and the hiring of another 78 professionals.

A total of 178 employees will fill managerial, technical, engineering, administrative, manufacturing and sales positions. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2014. Del Conca USA, the name of the American subsidiary behind this initiative, gave birth to this internationalization process to expand the Del Conca Group’s already significant market shares in the United States. In fact, Del Conca exports 75% of its production with half of that going to the States. The choice to work directly in America was dictated by the need to create a stronghold near these already important markets in order to offer a quick and flexible response to orders from U.S. customers.Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and the Loudon County Economic Development Agency officially welcomed Del Conca USA, thanking everyone for the hard work that made this important milestone possible for both Del Conca and the entire local community that will profit by it.
